ABSTRACT: This paper examines the Zimbabwean government’s response to the COVID 19 pandemic. It argues that the government of Zimbabwe could have done more to combat the spread of the virus. However, a combination of poor policies, ineffective government actions, and counterproductive measures threaten to cause more harm to the
Zimbabweans than the pandemic. The paper begins by looking at how the government has responded to the pandemic. It then examines the challenges emerging from the negative impacts of the disease and government policies on the citizens. It concludes with a set of policy recommendations.
